H.K. Singh Memorial Secondary School adjudged Second Best School

Hajom Kissor Singh memorial Secondary School, Jowai is a school run and managed by the Unitarian Church, Jowai. The School is one of the prominent Schools in the Jaintia Hills District of Meghalaya. On the occasion of the celebration of the Country’s Republic Day on January 26, 2012, the School was adjudged the Second best parade contingent in the School category.
 
Prizes were distributed by Dr. R.C. Laloo Minister of Revenue, Soil Conservation etc Government of Meghalaya. There are more than 20 schools from the entire town took part in the Republic Day parade and the first prize was bagged by St. Mary’s Mazzerello Girls Higher Secondary School and the third prize was bagged by the Jowai Police Public School.
 

Unitarian Church, Jowai distributed gifts to the Orphans on the Occasion of the Republic Day

The Unitarian Church, Jowai in collaboration with the District administration Jaintia hills District distrbuted gifts to the more than 20 wards in the Tome Memorial Orphanage, Mooralong, Jowai. The Orphanage is managed by the Catholic Mission and on the 26 of January being India's Republic day, the church participated in the celebration organised by the Government by distributing gifts to the Children of this Orphanage.

The members of the church were welcomed by Sister Philisita and 6 other Sisters who look after the orphanage and the convent.
Speaking in the gathering Rev. Mohrmen lauded the service provided by the sisters to help the children and also reminded the children the importance of Republic day to every citizen of India. It is the day that the people of the country give unto themselves the Constitution.

Niwen Shylla one of the elder of the Jowai Church led a prayer in the meeting and later the memers were introduced to the convent’s chapel.


Since it was part of the day long celebration of the Republic day organized by the government, two representatives from the government kong S. Lato Distric Forest Officer and kong A. Sumer Sub Divisional Engineer of Jowai were also present.





Family, Friends and the Unitarian Church Remembers Plielad Lyngdoh

Family  and Friends and the members of the two Unitarian Church Sohkha and Nongtalang remembered late Plielad Lyngdoh on the occasion of his first death anniversary. Plielad died last year on January 25, may his soul rest in peace. 
Family and Friends walked to the Unitarian Church Sohkha graveyard to lay flower reeds in Plielad Lyngdoh's memory.

Jingiasengkynphamlang Jowai Circle

 Jingiaseng Kynphamlang Jowai Circle is a group of 5 Churches and few fellowship joining together to form a Circle. The objective of these Circle is to support each other.
 The Joing service of the Circle was held on the 22 January 2012 at the Unitarian Church Sohkha. The last service was a specials service to commemorate the first Dead Anniversary of late Plielad Lyngdoh, the founder of the Unitarian Church, Sohkha.
 The Church Service was attended by a large number of Unitarians from the entire circle and particularly from the two adjacent churches Nongtalang and Sohkha. People who had attended the Circle's meet has overflow the church and had to sit outside.
